The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

This book is a memoir of the author's life. I cannot believe all the hardships that she endured in her lifetime and how she prevailed and came out ahead of the game. It is a troubling story, all things considered that she had to live through. However, it makes one wonder exactly what things in life make us stronger people, and what is a persons breaking point. Kudos to Jeannette for putting her story out there for the world to see. It had to be a hard road for her to relive. One that most persons would like to have left in the past, never to think of again. However, she brought her past to the pages of a book that let the world know that you can be more than your past defines you as. Don't get me wrong.
The book is not a "somewhere over the rainbow" type of story "and we live happily ever after", but one that is a result of a girl's determination to not be what society mocked her of being most of her childhood. I recommend this one to everyone. We all have had hardships, but this woman had more than I could have imagined possible.
My recommendation, is Read it.  It will make you realize how fortunate you childhood may have been, even if you think you had some rough times.  Or is some persons cases, you may see some of you childhood here, and realize there are others who overcame those hardships.
