I have just finished reading the book "Bite". This book is a compilation of several stories by several authors. I picked it up because of the anthology by Charlaine Harris on her Southern Vampire Series. I am always looking for more about my Bon Temp family. The story by Charlaine was good. It gives us some insight to how Sookie was notified of her cousin Hadley's death and what occurred within announcement. I did like the story, as I am a fan of the Southern Vampire series and anything more about the story line is always welcomed for me.
I also thoroughly enjoyed the story about Anita Blake, vampire executioner. Apparently, this short story is an anthology also, that occurs between two of Laurell Hamilton's books in the series featuring Anita Blake. I have not read this series, but after reading the anthology, I intend to, as it was well written and peaked my interest.
As for the other stories in the book, none appealed to me much. The others were way to close to some Harlequinn romance book (which I do not care for) and did not flow well, and kinda cheesy.
The last story in the book , written by Vickie Taylor, was pretty good. I do not know if this is an anthology or if she has other works out there related, but it was a good story. It was called Blood Lust, and flowed well, without too much of the way too steamy sex stuff.
So, if you like Charlaine Harris and follow along in Sookie's world, I would pick it up for that. As well, as if you follow Anita Blake's world, you could get some insight here as well. I will be reading that one I am sure, thanks to the teaser in "Bite".
